Obituary of Hubert D. Johns

JOHNS – Hubert D. “Dru”, 89, of Dundack, Maryland, a native of Chickoree (Jackson Twp.), passed away May 5, 2019 at McCullough Place, Johnstown. Born November 8, 1929 in Dundack, son of the late George and Phoebe Johns. Preceded in death by wife, the former Judy A. (Duncan) Johns, and infant daughter, son, Preston D. Johns; grandson Dane Johns, and siblings: Lionel Johns, Vivian Vandenberg, Norma Kay Johns & Dwyer Johns. Survived by children: Hubert D. “Sandy” (Kayla) Johns, Missouri; and Judy A. (Bill) Link, Ebensburg; and grandchildren: Laura (John) McCullough, Frederick, MD; Jennifer (Joshua) Carnes, Lancaster, Pa.; Hubert D. (Daniela) Johns III, San Antonio, TX; Audrey (John Ryan) Harris, Carrollton, GA; and great-grandchildren: Brooke, Isaac, Juliana & Haley McCullough; Willow Carnes, Abram & Grady Harris, and Ava Johns. Dru was the brother of Lew Zane Johns, of Florida, Shirley Clawson, Johnstown; Elaine Roberts, Vintondale; George (Judy) Johns, Johntown; sisters-in-law and special angel Linda Avis, Seville, OH; and sister-s-in-law Elizabeth Hatley, Medina, Ohio and Janet Johns, Vinco; and many nieces and nephews. Dru was a longtime resident of Ohio, Recently moved back to Johnstown. A Korean War Marine veteran. He was a retired truck driver for Yellow Freight. A member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed fixing lawn mowers and tractors, gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and watching Baseball and Nascar on TV. Special thanks to Hospice and McCullough Place for their caring compassion in his final days. Friends will be received from 5 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg. A Service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
