Obituary of John James Scileny

SCILENY - John James “Jim”, 78, a resident of Richland Health & Rehabilitation Center, passed away December 17, 2020.  Born August 5^th, 1942 in Johnstown,  son of the late John H. and Julia (Kosty) Scileny.   Preceded in death by his sister Bonita.   Survived by his devoted brother Bruce A. and wife Kathy Scileny, Ebensburg.  Jim was gifted with a brilliant mind, while in medical school his life was forever interrupted with the onsite of schizophrenia.  Having the family gift of music, while at Johnstown High School (Class of 1960) he was first chair in the Pennsylvania state band for two years. Jim also played with Johnstown Jazz Workshop and Reed Band.  Later he taught music lessons for many years.  Jim looked forward to the annual birthday celebration that he shared with Bruce and Kathy.  His final years were spent in contentment at Richland Health, tended by kind and caring staff. His small family are forever grateful.  We know Jim is now the spirit who God intended and will be greatly missed.  Due to current COVID-19 restrictions at this time, services are private.  Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
