HESSLER – Walter P., 81, of Nanty Glo, entered into eternal peace with his Savior on December 13, 2012, after complications from a closed head injury. Born March 10, 1931 in Cresson, son of the late Alex and Victoria (Zeglen) Hessler. Preceded in death by brother, Stanley; sister, Sr. Jane Frances; and grandson, Brian Nicholas Kysar. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, the former Mary Ann Richardson; and children, James (Melodee), Johnstown; Sharon Kysar, Yorktown, VA.; Deborah (John) Ondrejko, Belleville, IL.; Walter (Denise), Bellefonte; and David, of Nanty Glo. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Puch, Nanty Glo; brother, Alex, Columbus, OH.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Walt was retired from Beth Energy Mines Corp; beginning his mining career as a coal loader, shuttle car operator, fire boss, section foreman, lead foreman and general mine foreman. Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, and the American Polish Citizens Club. He loved spending time with his family, singing in the church choir and listening to his polkas. He was an avid golfer, and loved working in his yard. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St Mary’s Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walt’s memory may be made to his church.
