STEFANICK - James M., 68, of Twin Rocks, passed away at UPMC Altoona Hospital after an extended illness and complications with dialysis on November 27, 2017. Born Nov. 7, 1949 in Johnstown, son of the late Michael and Julia Susan (Lonesky) Stefanick. Survived by siblings, Michael, Jr. (Fiancé Linda Mauriello) Stefanick, Duncansville; Andrew (Dunyia) Stefanick, China Grove, NC; and David (Kathleen) Stefanick, Raleigh, NC. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Michelle Stefanick, Kevin Stefanick, Ruthann Stefanick Freeland, Andrew “Drew” (fiancé’ Rachel Burns) Stefanick, Michael Stefanick, David Stefanick, and Kara Stefanick (Brandon) Dodson. Special thanks to friends, John Adams, John Yarnivec and Nancy Gordon. Retired from Blacklick Valley School District with 25 years of service as a custodian. Graduate of Blacklick Valley School District and Hiram G. Andrews Maintenance Program. Jim was the first baby to survive with the RH factor in the Greater Johnstown Area.Jim was an active member of the SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox community in Vintondale. Jim loved his family, loved to do projects around the house, loved his Pittsburgh sports teams, was an avid Steelers, Penguin and Pirate fan, loved to laugh and joke and always maintained a positive attitude despite health issues that would have worn most others down. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Vintondale, the Very Rev. Grigori Tsjouman. Interment, SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to SS. Peter & Paul Church, 176 3rd St, Vintondale, Pa 15961.
