HOOVER – Merle D., 73, of Nanty Glo, passed away August 1, 2018. Born June 2, 1945 in Ebensburg, son of the late Merle and Jane (Miller) Hoover. Preceded in death by son, Paul B. Hoover; sisters, Myra Mangiacarne and Maryann Thomas; brother, Clair; and infant brother, Paul Herman. Survived by wife, the former Nancy Fye; sons, Merle (Sara) Hoover, Colorado; and Jason (Patty) Hoover, Johnstown. Grandchildren, Rockford and Madison Hoover. Also survived by sisters, his twin, Margaret (James) Tully, Hollidaysburg; and Theresa Dinsmore, Ohio. Brothers, Lee (Mickey) Missouri; and Charles “Jocko”, Ebensburg. Special sister in law, Edna Travis. Retired from State Correctional Institute of Cresson. Merle was a Vietnam veteran serving with the US Army. Lifetime member of Ebensburg VFW. Friends will be received from 5p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Deacon Thomas Buige, officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
