SHIRDON Helen F., 92, Cresson, died April 29, 2014, at Just Like Home, Cresson. Born July 7, 1921, in Lilly, daughter of the late Walter and Claire (Kois) Godish. Preceded in death by husband, Carl F. Sr.; son, James; and several brothers and sisters. Survived by children, Mary Lou Diehl (Kenneth), Cresson, and Carl F. Jr. (Janet), Shallotte, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Andrea Shirdon, St. Michael; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sisters, Doris Erzal, Florence Stevens and LeeAnn Tootsie Inman, all of Lilly. Had worked as a dietary supervisor at Cresson Tuberculosis Sanitarium, Cresson Center, and the Altoona Center, retiring after 20 years of service. Former member of Cresson C.D. of A. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m., followed by vigil for the deceased. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Very Rev. Father John D. Byrnes. Committal, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
