CLAAR Joseph W., 72, Cresson, died April 30, 2014, at Altoona Regional. Born May 19, 1941, in Altoona, son of the late Anna Marie (O Dellick) Claar. Preceded in death by sisters, Patty and Carol, and father-in-law, William Borlie Sr. Survived by wife, Paulette (Borlie), whom he married April 25, 1964; son, Joseph Jr., Somerset; sisters, Dorothy Henry, Arlene Keller, Theresa Nagle and Susan Rodgers, all of Altoona, and Sharon Richards, Tyrone; mother-in-law, Frances Borlie; and brothers-in-law, Paul Borlie, and William Borlie Jr., all of Cresson. Veteran of the Marine Corps Reserves. Retired in 2004 from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 26 years of service. Member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and the NRA. He was interested in history and politics. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church, the Rev. Leo F. Arnone. Committal, church cemetery. Military graveside rites by Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local veterans organizations.
