CRICHTON Leah Jean Sergent, returned to her heavenly home Dec. 16, 2014, due to complications with cancer. She was 66 years young. Born Jan. 15, 1948, in Altoona, to her parents, the late Charles (Al) Sergent and the late Doris (Seger) Sergent. Preceded in death by her brother, Larry J., and her best friend and sister, Tina Domey Kielbania. She studied at Cambria-Rowe Business College and worked briefly at the Ebensburg Center. Leah was a devout, religious woman with strong beliefs in the Lord and the heavens above. She volunteered many hours with the Carmelite nuns and the Discalced Carmelite Monastery. She enjoyed spending time with everyone, and was always willing to help and listen to anyone who needed it. She cared more for others than she did herself, and her commitment to the church and to people both young and old was inspiring. Survived by her husband of more than 46 years, James R. Crichton; brother, Charles R. (Chuck) Sergent; children, James (Wendy Clontz) and Jillsuzanne (Jim King); and grandchildren, Steven, Benjamin, Nathan and Allison. Leah will be buried in a private ceremony closed to the family on Friday, Dec. 19. Viewing will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, and from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Matevish & Matevish Funeral Home, 307 N. Center St., Ebensburg, where service will be held between 7 and 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Leah s life.
