STOLARSKI Joan R., 75, Cresson, died Dec. 17, 2014, at home. Born June 21, 1939, in Bradley Junction, daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Rita (Farabaugh) McConnell. Preceded in death by brothers, Ronald and P. Frederic; and sister, Patricia Vermeulin. Survived by husband, Peter Sr.; children, Peter Jr. (Carol), New Kensington; Marianne, Loretto; and Ronald (Becky), Altoona; grandchildren, Nathan, Tara, Joshua and Jacob; and siblings, Francis, Jersey Shore; Peggy Jasper, Gallitzin; Oscar T., Loretto; Joe, Arnold; and Rick, Nicktown. Also survived by brother-in-law, Richard Vermeulin, Portage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Known to everyone as Aunt Joanie, she enjoyed the Pittsburgh Pirates and Altoona Curve baseball, and most of all, she enjoyed watching her grandsons play baseball and her granddaughter play basketball. A graduate of Johnstown Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Retired in 1992 from the Altoona Center after 30 years with the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. Member of St. Aloysius Parish, Cresson; Pennsylvania Nurses Association; and PARSE; and auxiliary member of DAV. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Legion of Mary will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Church, the Very Rev. Father John D. Byrnes. Committal, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
