LUNGER Margaret L., 89, of Wise Terrace, Ebensburg, passed away December 29, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born September 29, 1925 in Barnesboro, daughter of the late William J. and Annie (Chernisky) Hendrick. Preceded in death by husband Donald D. Lunger and sister Mary Ann Calabria. Survived by sister, Pearl Natarian of Columbia, PA and brother, William J. Hendrick of Northern Cambria and numerous nieces and nephews. A member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Margaret was a graduate of the former Spangler Hospital School of Nursing, and the Academy of Nursing at John Hopkins, where she later served as head nurse at John Hopkins Hospital. She did post graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh, and had served as a staff nurse at Magee Woman s Hospital and Montefiore Hospital and served the Colorado University Hospital, where she assisted the Red Cross in the fields of nursing of polio patients and psychiatric nursing. At the close of her career, she concentrated on private duty nursing and was a member of the Nursing Professionals Registry in Pittsburgh. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m., to 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 2nd at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, officiating. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
