MCFADDEN - Charles, 90, Alpharetta, GA, passed away on March 10, 2015. The third son of the late Frederick Joseph McFadden and Dorothea (Reineke) McFadden, he was born August 30, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA. Preceded in death by his brothers Fred and Henry and his son Jeffrey Scott, Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara (Wolf), his daughter, Diane McFadden and her husband, Lowell Johnson of Naples, FL and son, Bruce McFadden and his wife, Sandee McFadden of Alpharetta, GA. Also survived by granddaughters, Alexandra and Hayley McFadden and brother David McFadden. Charlie attended Holy Name Grade School and Ebensburg-Cambria High School (class of 1942) and enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation, serving in Europe during World War II and stateside in the National Guard during the Korean War. Post-service he worked for many years at Cambria Tractor & Equipment in Ebensburg, PA. In 1996, Charlie and Barb retired to Naples, FL, for 5 years, finally settling in Alpharetta, GA. A drummer throughout school, Charlie continued his "love of the beat" as a member of the Ebensburg Legionaires Drum & Bugle Corps. He loved to dance the Swing with Barbie, vacation at the seashore, go boating on lakes or sea, laugh with his kids and grandkids, compete with his brothers about who could drive to Philadelphia in the shortest time, and enjoy a wee bit of whiskey now and again. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 10:30am at Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg, PA. The family will gather friends from 9:30 until the time of Mass in the church s Narthax. Donations to the Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096 would be appreciated for those wishing to contribute.
