KNOWLTON - Earl A., 87, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully April 29th, 2015 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born January 26, 1928 in Watertown, New York, son of the late Earl C. and Dora (Delosh) Knowlton. He is preceded in death by his first wife Kathleen (DeBovis) Knowlton and daughter Kathy. Survived by wife, the former Mary Pauline Johnson, to whom he was married 41 years; son, Steve (Kathleen VanNest) Knowlton, and daughter Pamela (Robert) Ernest; both of Johnstown; grandchildren: Robert & Jennifer Ernest, adopted step-sons: Peter Knowlton, Davidsonville, MD, and Thomas (Chery) Knowlton, California, MD, and their children Tyler & Luke, Alec and Rayann. Also survived by sister Elsie (Fred) Pellerin, Watertown, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Germany and France, a life member of Post 4963 VFW and member of Post 363 American Legion, both of Ebensburg. He was a former member of the Elks BPOE. Past President of the Ebensburg St. Vincent de Paul Society and founding member of the Food Pantry and Clothing Bank. He was an avid Nascar fan and in his early years enjoyed racing his own car "Hot Tomato #57". Retired from Glosser Brothers, where he had served as a salesman and sales manager of the GB Home Center and GB Auto Center. Former Owner of Diamond Builders and former sales manager for Trefoil. A member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Earl s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St Jude's Children's Hospital, or to the Holy Name School Angel Fund.
