CARNICELLA - Ronald F., 77, of Ebensburg, passed away May 22, 2015 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center after an extended illness. Born January 27, 1938 in Altoona, son of the late Paul and Rose (Kovacic) Carnicella. Preceded in death by son Christopher. Survived by wife, Anna Marie, to whom he was married 55 years; son, Tony (Tammy) Carnicella, Hollidaysburg; daughter-in-law Joy Carnicella, Altoona, and granddaughters: Andrea & Mackenzie Carnicella, Valerie Shaffer and Alyssa Carnicella. Also survived by brother, Richard Carnicella, and sister, Sally (Art) Rehnstorn all of Altoona. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, where he had served as a lector. He was a 1955 graduate of Altoona Catholic High, and a 1959 graduate of Millersville University with a B.S. degree in Science. He retired from teaching and coaching in 1978 having taught or coached in Johnstown, Central Cambria, Holy Name, Auburn, Lancaster, Pottsville, and Scotland Schools. He was the founder of the PA State Football Coaches Association and was instrumental in saving the "Big 33 Games" during his tenure with the association. He was inducted in the PA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000. Former owner/partner in Courtesy Promotions, RTC Corporation and RAC Security. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27th at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Monsignor David Lockard, celebrant. Committal at Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron s memory may be made to the Holy Name School Angel Fund, St. Jude's Children s Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
