LINK Merle A., 77, Ebensburg, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at UPMC Altoona. Born Dec. 13, 1937, in Ebensburg, son of Albert and Hilda Link. Preceded in death by spouse, Mary Elaine; and parents. Survived by children, Carolyn Rhoades, DuBois; Kenneth (Diana), Ebensburg; Donald (Amy), Orefield; Richard (Martha), Cresson; and James (Lori), Altoona. Survived by grandchildren, Kimberly Anderson (Michael), Joshua Link (Renee), Rebecca Link (Rob Evans), Daniel Link (Sara), Theresa Bryant (Jacob Bryant), Coleman Link, Tristen Link, Clayton Eckenrode and Mack Eckenrode (Brittany). Survived by great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Andrew Link, Ada Bryant and Amelia Link. Survived by brother, Howard (Carol), Wesminster, Maryland. Member of Holy Name Church and past chairman of Holy Name Festival. Employed as lineman for REA for 60 years. Member of Dauntless Fire Company for 58 years (fire chief from 1986-1991); held memberships in state and local firemen s associations; forest fire warden; initiated and served as president of the Holy Name School Athletic Association; served as Little League coach for 10 years and coach for Bishop Carroll High School football. Member of VFW. Friends will be received at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, from to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015. Fire department memorial service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg. Entombment, Holy Name Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Dauntless Fire Company, Ebensburg, or Holy Name School Angel Fund.
