IRWIN David Bryan, 57, of Loretto, passed away surrounded by family and friends November 8, 2015 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short, courageous battle with the rare cancer, Rhabdomysarcoma. Born September 2, 1958 in Philipsburg, son of Charles and Verna Irwin. He is preceded in death by his brother Charles Allen Irwin, paternal grandparents Jesse James and Zella Irwin, and maternal grandparents Lloyd Clemen & Elva Bishop. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Cameron Irwin, Loretto; parents, Charles Bryan & Verna Irwin, Irvona; sisters: Lisa (Christopher) Conroy, Wilmington, DE; Sherri Thomas, Altoona; and sister-in-law Chris Irwin, of Osceola Mills. Also survived by his honorary brother Warren Pusey, who was by his side to the end and 12 nieces and nephews. David was a graduate of Glendale High School and attained his B.S. in Mining Engineering in 1980 from the Pennsylvania State University. He had worked in Houston, Texas after college in the drilling industry and 19 years as a geotechnical engineer and operations manager at L. Robert Kimball & Associates. He was a Professional Engineer in multiple states and a certified personal trainer. Dave opened his own business, ShapeShifters Fitness in Ebensburg in 2004 and operated it successfully until its closing due to his health limitations. An avid Penn State Football fan, he enjoyed fitness, hiking and traveling, having visited 48 states. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday at the Colver Presbyterian Church, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m., Pastor Laura Blank, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Family House at UPMC, Shadyside in Pittsburgh (pittsburghfamilyhouse.org) or to the Sarcoma Foundation of America (curesarcoma.org).
