JACOBS – Andrew W. “Andy”, 77 of Ebensburg, passed away December 6, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 21, 1938 in Vintondale, son of the late Andrew Sr. and Catherine (Boback) Jacobs. Preceded in death by sister Helen and two infant sisters. Survived by wife, LeVonne, to whom he was married 54 years. Loving “Pap” to children: Robert “Bob” (Carleen) Keilman, Mundys Corner; Sandee (Dan) Bridge, Orlando, FL; Andrew Jr. “Rusty” (Jennifer) Jacobs, Arlington, Texas; and Lee Anne Popich at home. Also grandchildren: Robert & Michael Keilman, Melissa, Brooke, and Sabrina Bridge; Haley Jacobs; Corey Hoover and Cole Popich; and great-grandchildren Maddox, Michaela, Cullen & Mason. Also survived by sisters: Margaret “Margie” Wilkinson; Mary George; Irene (Jim) Reitler; Dorothy Zelinski; Kathy (Barry) Sergent; Shirley (Dave) Zech; and Nancy (Jim) Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his grand dog “Bruschi” who will miss Pops back scratches and getting to the couch before Pops did. A graduate of the Nanty Glo-Vintondale High School, Andy was retired from R & P Coal Company and had previously worked a time at Penn Machine Company, Conrail, WJAC, and most recently served as a custodian/maintenance man at Parkview Apartments in Ebensburg. A member of the Ebensburg First Christian Church, UMWA and was a proud Army veteran from the Korean War, Life Member of VFW Post #4963, and L.O.O.M., also served for many years as elections constable in Cambria Co. An avid hunter and fisherman, Andy was often referred to as “Pops,” and “Mr. Lake Rowena” as he was always willing to share his experience and knowledge about that borough landmark. “Pap will be sadly missed, Pops wasn’t a “gushy” guy but we knew we were loved, and we love him.” Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00am at the First Christian Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Dwayne Kaufman, officiating. Military rites will be performed at 10:45am Thursday at the church by local veteran’s organizations. Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Andy’s memory may be made to Ebensburg Area Ambulance and Dauntless Fire Company.
