Obituary of Rita G. Nagy

NAGY – Rita G., 98, of Ebensburg, passed away July 13, 2017 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born Nov. 21, 1918 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Andrew and Blanche (Kerr) Hagan. Preceded in death by husband, Dr. Joseph Nagy; brother, Dr. Francis Hagan; and niece, Carol Boggs. Survived by nephew, Dr. Mark (Denise) Hagan; great nephew, Ryan Boggs; and numerous close friends. Member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Rita was born in Nanty Glo. She married Dr. Joseph Nagy, the love of her life, and settled in Ebensburg. There she cared for both her parents until their passing. She was a surrogate mother to her niece, Carol and nephew, Mark Hagan. She was a good neighbor, a great cook, a devout Catholic and a rock of her church. She was loved by all who had the good fortune to know her. Her friendships were inter-generational. She was a non-judgmental “listener”, but also a robust “talker.” We will all miss those Irish eyes, smile and laugh. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Entombment, Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may be made to Holy Name Church.
