Obituary of Dr. Francis P. Brosius

Rev. Dr. Francis P. ‘Frank’ Brosius 86, of Everett, died Monday, November 6, 2017. He was born on November 21, 1930 in Nanty Glo, a son of the late Gerald A. and Clara (Orr) Brosius. On July 18, 1953 in Lilly, he married Shirley M. (Bradley) Brosius who survives along with the following family: a son, Donald Brosius and wife Michele, of Columbus, OH; two daughters: Lori Horner widow of Craig, and Tami Krupa and husband J.J., both of Bedford; five grandchildren: Samuel Brosius, Michael Brosius and wife Liz, Joshua Krupa and fiancée Anita, Jacob Krupa, and Rebekah Krupa; and a sister, Ethel Lefebre of Beaver Falls. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Gerald, Herbert, and John Brosius; and a sister, Margaret Hagens. Frank was a 1948 graduate of Blacklick Valley High School. He then served the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Frank then attended IUP and received his Bachelor’s degree, and then went on to receive his Doctorate from Lancaster Theological Seminary. Throughout his tenure he served Richland Christian Church, Ebensburg Christian Church, and most recently Rays Cove Church, in Breezewood. Frank considered his pastoral work as one of his greatest accomplishments. The former Mayor of Ebensburg, Frank also served 25 years as the Sr. District Judge in Ebensburg, and served one term on the Central Cambria School Board. He was the Chaplin and Lt. Col. of the local Civil Air Patrol, and was very active with the Boy Scouts of America in Cambria and Bedford County, earning the Silver Beaver Award. Frank enjoyed traveling with his wife overseas and in the western United States and spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Clayton Harriger officiating. Burial at Bedford Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
