Obituary of Verla Leona Nelen

NELEN – Verla Leona, 89 of Colver, passed away peacefully November 27, 2017 at home. Born June 24, 1928 in Barr Twp., daughter of the late Henry C. and Marie I. (Schilling) Natcher. Preceded in death by husband Marinus Nelen, son Patrick Nelen, son-in-law John Hoffman, and brother Charles Natcher. Survived by children: Doris (Mike) Barczak, Mundys Corner; Anna Nelen, Ebensburg; Bonnie (Richard) Stasko, Patton; Dennis Nelen, Sr., Arizona; Eugene Nelen; Mark (Heather Felix) Nelen; and Margaret Nelen, all of Colver, Charles Nelen, Northern Cambria, and daughter-in-law Dawn Nelen. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and brothers & sisters: Helen Morris, Ebensburg; Olean Bishop, Northern Cambria; Betty Wasser, Strongstown; Jean (Ronald) Bopp, Marie Williams, and Dorothy (Charles) Arotin, all of Ebensburg. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Colver. She enjoyed time with family and playing Bingo. The family wishes to thank the Cambria Twp. Rescue, Ebensburg EMS, and the Askew-Houser Funeral Home family. At her request there will be no viewing. Family and friends are welcome to attend her funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Holy Family Church, the Rev. Bernard Grega, celebrant. Interment at Holy Family Cemetery, Colver.
