CICERO – Edna M., 102, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully January 2, 2018 at home. Born October 7, 1915 in Lavansville, Somerset County, daughter of the late Luther and Junia (Kring) Mull. Preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Cicero, who passed away December 15, 1969; brother Floyd Mull, niece, Leanna Owatt; brothers-in-law: Art, Rupert, Sylvester, Octavious & Mario Cicero, and sisters-in-law Edith Atkinson and Irene Van Patrick. She is survived by her niece Linda Seliga, of Ebensburg, numerous grand nieces and grand nephews, her best friend Pauline Boring, of New Florence, and her caregiver, Glea Shilcosky, and the helpful staffs at the Area Agency on Aging and Southern Care Hospice,. She was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church. Former owner and operator of the former Cicero’s Skating Rink in Ebensburg, she was a popular fixture to the youth of the borough during her tenure at the rink. Though managing the business was achievement enough for a woman during this time, Edna always considered herself a teacher. A professional skater herself, she served as a professional skating teacher and attended professional schools all over the United States, including Denver, Los Angeles and New York. Widowed at a young age, Edna managed the rink for twenty years after her husband’s passing. She developed programs for the area youth to learn to skate and produced programs for her young students, choreographing, costuming, and acting as organist for the pageant. She was a founding member of the Roller Skating Rink Operators Association, now the Roller Skating Association International and enjoyed traveling the world. Friends will be received from 4 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery.
