LIEB – Walter W., “Buck”, 84, of Ebensburg, passed away April 2, 2018 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born September 29, 1933 in Nicktown, son of the late Walter W., Sr. and Susan (Smarsh) Lieb. He is preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; grandson Derek Walter Westrick; and infant granddaughters Lyndie, Lauren, and Lee Ann Lieb. Survived by wife, the former Marie (Carpinello) Lieb, to whom he was married 61 years; and these children: Susan (James) Kiser, Middletown, Maryland; Diana (Richard) Stoltz, New Stanton, Pa.; Sharon (James) Burkett; Ebensburg; Nicholas (Beth) Lieb, Hastings; Lorena (Mark) Westrick, Sanford, North Carolina; and Rebecca (Jennifer) Lieb, Ebensburg, Also 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 12 brothers and sisters. Buck was retired from Beth Energy Mine #33 and a member of UMWA. He served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of Post 363 American Legion and Post 4963 VFW, both of Ebensburg. He enjoyed fishing in his free time and was always quick to impart wisdom to his children and funny poems with his grandchildren. A member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, where the family will gather at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7th, until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Masses & Spiritual Bouquets or donations to Ebensburg Area Ambulance Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
