YAHNKE - Betty P., 92, formerly of Colver and Ebensburg, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Carlisle, Pa. Born December 16, 1925 in London, England, daughter of the late Nelly and Horace. Last surviving member of her immediate family , she is preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Master Sgt. Leonard C. Yahnke, who passed away June 8, 1989; son-in-law Charles Dove, and her sister Joyce. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Dennis) Tozzini of Carlisle, Pa.; Deborah (Michael) DeGretto of Colver; Charles P. Yahnke of Colorado Springs, CO; Mary Vanessa Dove of Ebensburg; Melissa (Todd) Stockstill of Memphis, TN, and Rebecca (Alex) Weibel of Coraopolis, Pa. Also survived by grandchildren: Michael (Lauren) DeGretto; Melinda (Bruce) Mason; Jane (Corey) Adams; Ian, Cole, Liza, & Sophie Stockstill; and Clara & Alex Weibel; and great-grandchildren: Aidan & Lane DeGretto; Benton & Everett Mason, and Charlie Adams. Betty retired from the Ebensburg Center, where she had served as an activities aide for 26 years. During World War II, she served in the Woman’s Royal Navy in England. She enjoyed membership at the Colver Presbyterian Church and held membership in the Order of Eastern Star for 50 years. Betty enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren. She loved playing the piano and was an avid walker. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a spectacular “Betty” as they called her. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Claremont for the wonderful care they provided to Betty and thanks to the staff of Grane Hospice Care, Lemoyne Pa. for their excellent care. At her request there will be no viewing. Private funeral service and interment at the convenience of the family. Interment at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery near Annville, Pa. Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
