DeSalvo - Arthur A. Sr. 83, of Ebensburg died on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center Palliative Care after losing his battle with CHF and vascular dementia. He was born July 31, 1935 at Spangler Miner’s Hospital, son of Joseph Sr. and Sophia (Fetcko) DeSalvo. Art was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Joseph Jr., Earnest, Steve, Anthony, Frank, Jim, Phillip, and sister, Mary and grandson Michael DeSalvo Jr. Survived by spouse Betty Lou (Wasser) to whom he married at Holy Name Church 62 years ago on August 25, 1956, and children; Rick ( Sherri Ellenberger), Mike (Diane Rubisch) Daniel, Nina Hildebrand (Robert), Naomi (Clifford Whinnie), Renee’ Dickert (Matthew) and Arthur Jr. (Sherri Mc Clinsey) He also left behind his sister Rose who is the last surviving family member. Art was grandfather to 15 wonderful grandchildren and great grandfather to 15 precious great grandbabies, and beloved dog Jack. Art was a graduate of John Carroll High School in Carrolltown. He was formerly employed at Penelec, Acme Super Market, and Glenshaw Glass. Art was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and motor cycle riding. He loved and owned many horses. One of his favorite things was hitching up the sleigh and taking his grandchildren for rides during the winter holidays. Gardening was his favorite hobby and his fine vegetables won many prizes at the Cambria County Fair. Art was a liturgical minister at Holy Name and helped at the festival for many years. Our very large family will never be the same again without him. We invite our relatives, friends and those who knew him to a visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Msgr. David Lockard, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum. \
