EWING - Richard James Sr., 87, of Colver, died January 24, 2006 at Laurel Crest Manor. Born June 12, 1918 in Creighton, PA , son of the late William and Mae (James) Ewing. Preceded in death by daughter, Denise Swandol, one sister and two brothers. Survived by wife of 59 years, the former Beatrice Elizabeth Heilman; and children, Richard James, Jr., of Maryland; Deborah and husband Randy Thompson, of New Hampshire; and son-in-law Roy Swandol, Sr., of Indiana; Also grandchildren: Kimberly Prielipp, Tracy Buckley, Roy Swandol, Jr., Sarah, Elizabeth and Patrick Thompson; and great-grandchildren: Brooke and Kaden Prielipp and Mallory Buckley. Also survived by brothers Robert and Ray, and sisters Jean and Joanne. Member of Colver Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder. Richard was a member of the Blue Lodge F. & A.M., Verona; Pittsburgh's Jaffa and Consistory, Ebensburg VFW and American Legion, and UMWA Local 1380. A WW II Army veteran and retired coal miner from Bethlehem Mines Corporation. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, the Rev. Dr. Stanley Bhasker, officiating. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Cheswick, PA.
