Rice - Richard D. "Rich", Jr., 35, died August 23, 2006 at his home in Mertztown, PA. Born on December 30, 1970 in Altoona, loving son of Richard D., Sr. and Suzanne (Coughlin) Rice of Portage. He was a 1988 graduate of Portage Area High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State, Behrend Campus, Erie. He was a software engineer for the past two years at Moritz Aerospace in Hatfield. Prior to that, he worked in the same capacity at Accu-sort, Telford, for nine years. Survived by his parents of Portage; fiance' Jane C. Csir, with whom he resided; brother, Jeffrey, of Kutztown; paternal grandmother, V. Mae Rice, Ebensburg; special "girls" Nikki and Paradise, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends with whom he was very close. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George G. and Emma C. Coughlin, and paternal grandfather Charles W. Rice. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. Friends will be received from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday at the Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, Pa. and from 10:00 a.m.. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., 300 N. Julian Street, Ebensburg, the Rev. James Rank, officiating. Committal at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. Memorial Contributions in Rich's memory may be made to his favorite charities, the Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, Pa. 19604, or the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue, 60 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, Pa., 17569.
