MASTRINE - Roland Joseph, age 72, Colver, died Sept. 3, 2006, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born April 7, 1934, in Colver, son of Pellegro and Cesarina (Fusi) Mastrine. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Meline; and brothers, Guido, Emilio, Duelleo, Lawrence, Rornolo, Fred and Aldo. Survived by wife of 49 years, the former Marylou Vay; and these children: Edward, Clearfield; Gina Sowers (Thomas), Ebensburg; Cindy Busko (Brian), Huntingdon; and Christopher (Amy), Colver; grandchildren, Adam, Caitlin, Alisha, Leah, Andrea, McKenzie and Brennden. Brother of Deno (Marydarl), Orrville, Ohio, and Julian (Nora), Sun City, Ariz. Roland was a founding member of the Colver Sportsman Club; officer of the Son of Italy Lodge 1507, Colver; member of UMWA Local #850, Revloc; and veteran of the Army. He was a retired coal miner and worked at Bethlehem Mines #32 and #33. He was an avid outdoorsman with a green thumb. Roland was a very loving and caring person to everyone he knew. He loved his family more than life itself. He made the sun shine on a cloudy day. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Mass, 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church, Colver, the Rev. Bernard Grega. Committal, Holy Family Cemetery, Colver. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Colver Volunteer Fire Company in Roland's memory.
