LAUER - James R. "Dick," 79, Ebensburg, died Sept. 7, 2006, at home. Born Sept. 2, 1927, in Ebensburg R.D., son of Irvin James and Laura (Brown) Lauer. Preceded in death by parents; infant daughters, Mary Beth and Diane; infant brother, William; and brothers, Leo and Robert. Survived by wife, the former Mary Aroney; these children: James Richard Jr., Ebensburg; Carol, wife of Eric Keim, Ebensburg; Linda, wife of Jacob Witherell, Pittsburgh; and Joseph, married to the former Tanya Simmons, Parkhill; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Alexander and Elisabeth Keim; Kailey and Abigail Witherell; and Cameron and Carsen Lauer. Brother of Esther Sclesky, Bakerton, and Mary Starosciack, Glenella Heights, Ohio, and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Lauer, St. Augustine. U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and U.S. Air Force veteran during the Berlin Airlift. Member of K of C Council 522, Ebensburg. Dick was a Republican committee-man and was involved with the Ebensburg Airport. Dick was a devoted family man and loved his family very much. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Matevish & Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held Sunday evening. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Holy Name Parish or the school Angel Fund, in Dick's memory. K of C wake service at 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
