SHEDLOCK - Bernard L. Sr. "Barney," 80, Nanty Glo, died Sept. 15, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Dec. 4, 1925, in Morann, son of the late Michael and Mary (Petrilla) Shedlock. Preceded in death by brothers, Joseph "Bay" and Michael; sisters, Mary Butchkosky and Margaret Kowalski; and granddaughter, Anna Mary. Survived by wife of 59 years, the former Blanche Barger; sons, Bernie, married to the former Mary Frances Hines, Nanty Glo; Bill, married to the former Jamie Connah, Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, William (Keri); Jason (Lori); Naomi (Ryan) Bickle; Matthew; David (Dawn); and Monica, and special friend, Travis Koshko; great-grandchildren, David, Ashley, Nathan, Austin and Ian; and sister, Eleanor Sebulsky. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. An Army veteran of World War II. Retired after 42 years from Bethlehem Mine 33. Member of Vintondale VFW Post 5211, Nanty Glo Rod and Gun Club and UMWA Local 1368. Barney was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and being with his family. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where liturgical wake service will be held Sunday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Father David Peles, the celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Nanty Glo Fire Company. Military services will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
