Obituary of Helen Bezek

BEZEK - Helen (Dropcho), 94, Nanty Glo, died Sept. 18, 2006, at Select Specialty Care. Born April 25, 1912, in Clarence, daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara (Lorinc) Dropcho. Preceded in death by husband, John Jr.; daughter, Barbara Bezek; granddaughter, Natalie Patterson; son-in-law, Martin Patterson; brothers, Andy, John, Anthony and Frank; and sisters, Anna Botson and Mary Funyak. Survived by son, John F. (Clara), Cape Carteret, N.C.; daughters, Joanne Patterson, Nanty Glo, and Elizabeth Bezek, at home; grandchildren, Patricia Ashburn (Lee), New Bern, N.C.; Jay Bezek (Wendy), Huntersville, N.C.; Christa Cooley (Shawn), Falls Church, Va.; Jennifer Patterson, and fiance, Todd Waldron, Philadelphia; great-grandchildren, Kelsie Patterson, Peyton Bezek and Riley Bezek; sister, Elizabeth Aroney, Detroit, Mich.; brother, Michael, Erie; and numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and extended family. Member of St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo. Retired from Cambria Dress Factory. Member of Jednota Lodge and Altar Rosary Society. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and patriarch to her entire family. She was very active in affairs of her church and will be remembered for her loving concern of others, her outstanding Slavic meals, her love of bingo and her willingness to help wherever needed. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where liturgical wake service will be held Wednesday evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Nanty Glo, Father David Peles, the celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church.
