LONG - Raymond C., 76, New Germany, died Oct. 6, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 20, 1930, in New Germany, son of Albert J. and Clara H. (Weinzierl) Long. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Kenneth and Harold; and brother-in-law, John Schissler. Survived by wife of 53 years, Philomena H. "Minnie" (Crocefoglia) Long, New Germany, whom he married Dec. 30, 1952; children, Christine Latoche, South Fork; Kathy, wife of Richard Naret, Palm Harbor, Fla.; Sharon, wife of Daniel Penatzer, Summerhill; Jeffrey, married to Janet Penatzer, Summerhill; Barbara, wife of Michael Muchard, Palm Harbor, Fla.; Karen, wife of Donald Robertson, Jacksonville, Fla.; Robert "Bob," Ebensburg; Russell, married to Pam Snyder, Ebensburg; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Richard (Mary); Grace (John) Heinlein; Barbara (Patrick) Dumm, all of New Germany; Clair (Glenda), Summerhill; Camillus (Betty); Joyce (Thomas) Gregorich, both of South Fork; Lois (Robert) Whiteford, Mineral Point; Leona Schissler, Maryland; Rosemary (Alfred) Gill, Maryland; Vera (Ronald) Noll, Malvern; also sisters-in-law, Jean Long, New Germany, and Diana Long, Ohio. In 1966, in partnership with Clete and Clement Smith, Ray became the owner and president of New Germany Wood Products. He served with the Army as a medic during the Korean War in Japan. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany, and the South Fork American Legion, Post 653. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork, where vigil for the deceased will be held 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Alfred Patterson, OSB. Committal, St. Mary Cemetery, New Germany. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice. Military graveside service by St. Michael American Legion, Post 551.
