Rutka - Edmund Alvin, 79, of Circle Drive, Ebensburg, and formerly of Carrolltown, died peacefully October 26, 2006 at home. Born June 11, 1927 in Carrolltown, son of the late Michael and Michaelina (Koscinski) Rutka. Preceded in death by sisters: Lucy Balgorsky, Cornelia, Martha, and Regina Rutka, Sophia Zygmont; and brother, Leonard Rutka. Survived by loving wife, the former Deanna J. Miceli, to whom he was married 41 years, sister, Cecilia "Honey" Kerchenske of Carrolltown, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. A graduate of DePaul Institute for the Deaf, Pittsburgh. Retired lathe operator for the former Stevens Manufacturing and Kasel Manufacturing Companies. Member of Carrolltown American Legion and Fireman's Club. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, the Central and Western Pennsylvania Deaf Senior Citizens and the PA. Society for the Advancement of the Deaf. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking & gardening.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday at Holy Name Church, Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Committal at St. Benedict Cemetery, Carrolltown.
