Mentch - Frances J. (Jablonski) , 84 of Colver - Belsano Road, Colver, died November 4, 2006 at Rebekah Manor, Northern Cambria. Born December 4, 1921 in Ford City, daughter of the late Martin and late Mary (Kurtyka) Jablonski. Preceded in death by husband of 41 years, Nelson E. Mentch and brother Henry Jablonski. Survived by son, N. Bruce, married to the former Arlene McCullough, Colver; grandchildren: Donald Mentch and his wife Chandra, Japan; Kerry Ann Mentch, Pittsburgh; Martin Mentch and his wife Penny, of Valdosta, Georgia; and great-grandchildren: Hayden, Warner, Oliver, and Tyler Mentch. Also survived by sisters-in-law: June Mentch, Colver; and Dorothy Bolinger, Cape May, New Jersey; and brother Theodore Jablonski.
A retired teacher for the Blacklick Valley, Apollo and Freeport School Districts, where she had taught home economic. She was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in home economics, and completed her masters degree at the Pennsylvania State University. Member of the Ebensburg United Methodist Church and former member of the Belsano United Methodist Church. Member of Belsano Senior Citizens, Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Post 4963 Ladies Auxillary, Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Sororety, NEA and PSEA, as well as the Penn State and IUP Alumni Associations.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a Eastern Star Service will be held Tuesday evening. Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, the Rev. Roger Johnson, officiating. Interment at United Methodist Cemetery, Belsano.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frances' memory may be made to the Ebensburg or Belsano United Methodist Churches or the Colver Volunteer Fire Company.
