Sowers - Robert E., 83, of Ebensburg, died December 4, 2006. Born in Morgantown, West Virginia in 1923, son of Alvin M. and Myrtle (Sheets) Sowers. Preceded in death by parents and brother, William C. Sowers. Survived by wife of 50 years, Leona M. and children: Thomas A. (Gina) Sowers; Rebecca S. (Robert) Bracken, all of Ebensburg; Kristine A. (Barry) Segear, Cresson; and David E. (Tava) Sowers, of Rochester Hills, Michigan. Also survived by grandchildren: Aric & Magdalene Bracken, Caitlin Sowers, Sarah Segear, and Brady Sowers; and brother Alvin M. Sowers, Jr., of Orrville, Ohio.
Retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran of the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and the Phillippine Liberation. A graduate of West Virginia University and avid Pittsburgh Steeler and West Virginia University football fan.
A gathering of friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Jim Farrer, officiating. Interment at Stone Church Cemetery in West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church or the Ebensburg-Cambria Public Library in Bob's memory.
