Obituary of Edwin Thomas Englehart

ENGLEHART - Edwin Thomas, 85, Allison Park, formerly of New Kensington and Lower Burrell, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, in Rebecca Residence, Allison Park, after a two year illness. Born Aug. 7, 1921, in Johnstown, to the late Edwin T. Sr. and Genevieve (Conley) Englehart. He graduated from Ebensburg High School and from Penn State University in 1943. Mr. Englehart was employed by Alcoa Research and Development, New Kensington and the Alcoa Technical Center as assistant chief/section head specializing in corrosion research, retiring on Jan. 1, 1983. He was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell, and St. Richard Church, Gibsonia, a member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, the Alcoa 25 Year Club, was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1381, New Kensington, and a former member of Lower Burrell Lions Club. Prior to retirement, he was a member of several technical societies and committees and was the author/co-author of a number of technical publications. Mr. Englehart enjoyed golf, spectator sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Genevieve Whittaker Englehart; a daughter, Daria (Philip) Miller of Oakmont; three grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, and Nathaniel Miller; and a sister, Marilyn Englehart of Ebensburg. Preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Ross G. A Christian funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Margaret Mary Church, 3055 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
