FARKAS - Margaret Ann "Tootsie," 81, Vintondale, died Dec. 19, 2006, at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Horvath) Farkas. Preceded in death by brothers, Stephen and John Dusza. Survived by sister, Mary Martin, Nanty Glo; brother, Nicholas Farkas, Gettysburg; and many nieces and nephews. Member of SS. Timothy -- Mark Chapel, Vintondale. Retired from the federal government, where she was a flight instructor. Tootsie was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Member of the Nanty Glo American Legion Post 619, where she was past commander; Ebensburg VFW Post 4963; Vintondale Firemen's Club; and the Moose Lodge in California. She flew in the Powder Puff Derby from San Francisco to Philadelphia in 1957, and was the author of two books, "Tootsie" and "Jug." Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bowser-Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, where liturgical wake service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass will be held at noon Friday at SS. Timothy -- Mark Chapel, Vintondale, Father James H. Conrad, STL, celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks. Veterans service will be conducted by the local veterans organizations.
