MAURER - Milton James “Jim”, 87, of Ebensburg. Passed away October 24, 2019 at home. Born November 26, 1931 in Colver, son of the late Milton Joseph and Florine Thomas Maurer. Preceded in death by brother, Robert (Dorothy) Maurer, and sister, Myrna Pizzino. Survived by wife of 67 years Carolyn Hughes; children: Carrie L. (Donald) Oswald, of Ebensburg, James T. (Jeanette Bobolsky) Maurer, of Ebensburg, Jayne A. (Richard) Polchito, of Mineral Point, and Joyce R. (Paul) Kirsch, of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren: Nick (Christine), Curt, and Chrissy Polchito, Lee Ann (Bryan) Daves, and Brynne Kirsch; and great-grandchildren: Isaac, Allie, Ava, and Olivia Polchito. Also survived by sister, Nadine “Muff” Kinkead, of York, and brother-in-law Babe Pizzino, of Altoona. Jim retired from Rural Electric and was a US Army veteran, a member of the American Legion and longtime member of the Ebensburg United Church of Christ. The family would like to express special gratitude to Dr. Magley and staff as well as the staff of Interim Hospice. Friends will be received from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday October 30th at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg. A memorial service will be held 11:00am Thursday October 31at the Ebensburg United Church of Christ, Pastor Ryan Lucas officiating. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Ebensburg Public Library. Interment Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
