Obituary of Doris (Doerr) Shea-Mackenzie

SHEA – MACKENZIE   -  Doris  (Doerr), 95, of Sun City Hilton Head, SC passed away peacefully on  March 27, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Bluffton SC.  Born Nov. 14, 1924 in Colver, PA, she lived in Ebensburg, PA.  She was the daughter of Christian D and Mabel (Thomas) Doerr.   She was employed many years by Ohio Bell Telephone in Cleveland.  She and her husband spent their retirement years in Port Charlotte, FL and Sun City Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her son, Dennis Shea of Sun City, her grandson  Adam Shea of Cleveland, her brother Robert Doerr of Kittanning, PA, and her step-daughters Carol Mackenzie of Lakewood, OH and Mary Beth Brooking of Maine.  Also many nephews and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Mackenzie, her son Thomas Shea, her sisters Margaret Stoy, Mabel Betsy Ricupero, her brothers Christian and Charles Doerr, and her first husband Leo Shea.   In her retirement years, she devoted her time to her passion for quilting.  Doris "hand quilted" over fifty quilts and wall hangings, taught quilting classes, and always attended the national quilt shows.  Her memory will be cherished for many years to come for all the beautiful heirloom quilts she has given to family and friends.  Services will be private with interment at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg, PA under the direction of Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc. in Ebensburg, PA
