Obituary of Alexandra Maria Smith

SMITH - Alexandra “Sasha” Maria (Brown), 42, of Nanty Glo, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on August 12, 2020. Born November 17, 1977, in Johnstown, daughter of Gerald L. and Margaret (Hines) Brown. Proceeded in death by father; brother, Philip; and sister, Maria. Survived by husband, Kenneth Smith and their children, Lyric Alexandra and Clayton Gerald, of Nanty Glo. Also survived by mother; brothers, Patrick, of Beaver; Richard (Christine), of Ebensburg; and Jeffrey, of Duncansville; in-laws, Kenneth and Louise Smith and goddaughter, Jade, of Ebensburg; and nieces and nephews. A graduate of Bishop McCort High School, she studied English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and was employed as a switchboard/receptionist at Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nanty Glo. Sasha enjoyed reading, family vacations at the beach and camping, playing silly games with Clayton and “lazy Saturdays” with Lyric. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.
