Obituary of Walden Carl Vorhauer

VORHAUER – Walden Carl, 67, of Cambria Twp., died September 3, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness.  Born January 8, 1953 in Johnstown, son of J. Edward Vorhauer, Sr. and Margaret Faye (Rhodes) Vorhauer.  Preceded in death by parents and sister,  Martha.  Survived by brothers and sisters:  J. Edward Jr. (Susanne McGhee), Jeannette, Ellen Grace, Allan (Regina Turin), Cheryl, James and Esther (Doug Eady).  Also nieces and nephews:  Heather (Cliff Bernstein), Gretchen (Ross Beveridge), Brian (Sheena Bailey) and Jennie (Dylan McCreary);  great-niece and great-nephews: Quinten, Leighla and Justen Vorhauer and Andrew and Adam Beveridge; as well as several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and many friends.  Walden was part owner and secretary/treasurer for the family owned Vorhauer Farms, Inc. and Woodland Park Inc.  A graduate of Central Cambria High School, Class of 1970, Cambria-Rowe Business College and Drake University of Florida.  A life-long farmer and active member of the Cambria County Farm Bureau.  He attended St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundy’s Corner and held membership to the Augustana Lutheran Church in West St. Paul MN.   Friends will be received from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 7^th, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.  A private Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. Kevin McNamara, officiating.  Interment at Ogden Cemetery.  Masks are required for both the visitation and private services.  Many thanks to the Conemaugh Home Health nurses for their assistance to the family.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the Interfaith Community Food Pantry in Walden’s memory.
