Obituary of Bernetta M. Long

LONG – Bernetta M. (Veneskey), 90, of Ebensburg, passed away December 21, 2020, at home,  surrounded by her loving family.  Born April 6, 1930 in Carrolltown, daughter of the late Zygmont A. and Mary Helen (Farabaugh) Veneskey.   Preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Cletus R. Long, and brothers Francis and John Veneskey.  Survived by children:  Lois (Richard) Biemiller; Mary Ann (John) Shoemaker; Gerald (Brenda) Long; Martin (Cheryl) Long; Stanton (Maureen) Long; Irene (Thomas) Kopczyk; Evelyn (Kevin) Zimmerman; Monica (Stephen) Hogue; Shirley (Eric) Krug; and Angela (Michael) Oravec; 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.   Also survived by brothers and sisters:  Anita Nealen; Sylvester Veneskey; Rose Weiland; Michael Veneskey; Dan “Butch” Veneskey; Mary Delaney; Cecelia McGary; Margaret Griffith; Veronica Tinker; and Germaine Lanzendorfer.  Bernetta was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Colver.  She was a devoted wife and mother who loved babies and her family, and enjoyed a good laugh.  Her interests included growing flowers, quilting and sewing, music, playing piano and reading.  She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and the Rosary.  Special thanks to our mother's loving caregivers, who were Heaven-sent.  Due to the present health restrictions a private Funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.  Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bernetta’s memory may be made to Bishop Carroll Catholic High School or to the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit, Detroit, Michigan.  Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg.
