KRUPA - Matthew David “Matt”, 27, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed on February 4, 2021, while on duty with the San Antonio Police Department NE I.S.D., while he was living out his childhood dream as a police officer. Born July 25, 1993 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Robert Sekerak; and paternal grandfather, Michael Krupa. Survived by wife, Emylee; and daughter, Mayleigh, who was his pride and joy. Also survived by his parents, Tammy and David Krupa; maternal grandmother,  Betty Sekerak; paternal grandmother, Pauline Krupa; sister, Brittany (fiancé, Ronald Brown II); nephew, Jacob and niece,  Lydia, who absolutely adored him. Godparents Uncle Bob and Aunt Debbie Sekerak; close cousins, Robert and Christiana Sekerak; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and friends. He will also be sadly missed by his K-9’s, best companions, Kato and Delta, and the amazing number of people who knew him and called him friend. Matt dreamed of being a police officer since he was a little boy and was proud to be able to help others. He was a caring and kind person who stood up for the less fortunate and had an infectious smile that just lit up the room when he walked in. Matthew will be brought home and laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery, Twin Rocks, where one day he will be joined by his dad, who was his best friend, and his best hunting and fishing buddy, who will miss him dearly. Friends will be received from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. (masks required at both funeral home and church)  Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com. Matt’s goal was to become a K-9 officer, so in lieu of flowers, please forward donations in Matt’s memory to the Johnstown Police K-9 Unit Fund, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, 216 Franklin St., Suite 400, Johnstown, PA 15901 or online at: cfalleghenies.org/cfa-funds/Johnstown-police-k-9-unit-fund.
