Obituary of Mike Fenchak
FENCHAK – Mike, 91, of Nanty Glo, passed away July 5, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. Born October 13, 1929 in Vintondale, son of the late Charles and Barbara Fenchak. Preceded in death by son, David “Buck,” and granddaughter Christian. Survived by wife, Millie (Byich), to whom he was married 64 years; son, Michael (RaNell), Vinco; daughter, Marianne (Tim) Ford, Mundy’s Corner, and daughter-in-law, Lynne, Nanty Glo; grandchildren; Matt (Danylle) Ford, Lindsey (Matt) McQuay, Kayla, Aaron, Justin, & Morgan Fenchak; and great grandchildren; Jaxon, Ella, Jocelyn, Addilyn, Charley, and Luna. Also survived by brother George (Liz), Georgia, brother-in-law Sam Byich, Ohio, sister-in-law Joann Byich, Portage, and special friend Ken. Mike was a long time member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, where he had served as an usher and an offertory counter. A graduate of the Cambria-Rowe Business College, he retired as an accountant from Bethlehem Steel Corp, Johnstown. He was a Korean War Army veteran, and was an active member of the Nanty Glo American Legion, and the Nanty Glo Polish-American Citizen’s Club. Mike was an avid hunter, enjoyed golfing, bowling, and gardening. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc, Nanty Glo where a Parastas will be held at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Oravetz, celebrant. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Veteran’s service by local Veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
