DAVIE - William Clair, Sr., 81 of Dunkirk, MD passed away September 18, 2021 peacefully at home. Born March 4, 1940 in Johnstown, son of the late A. Clair and Elizabeth (McCracken) Davie of Nanty Glo, PA, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and aunt, Dorothy McCracken. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Gaulden) Davie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two devoted children: William Clair Davie, Jr. of La Plata, MD and his wife Heather (Campbell), and Debra Lynn (Davie) Miller of Philipsburg, PA and her husband Cory; two grandchildren, Emma and Ryan Davie; and first wife, Mary (Oravec) Davie, of Philipsburg.
William retired as a mathematical statistician (30 years) from the Census Bureau, Suitland, MD. He was an avid men’s and women’s Maryland Terrapin basketball fan. He delighted in listening to all genres of music, and he encouraged and shared this enthusiasm with his children. He enjoyed dining out, bird-watching, collecting sports memorabilia, and playing the lottery. William will always be remembered for the pure kindness and generosity he showed to all who knew him.
A private family service will be held on Monday, September 27 at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, with committal to follow at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg. Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com.
