KUHAR - John T, 93, of Nanty Glo, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2021. Born June 22, 1928, in Cardiff, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles and Mary Ann (Sholtis) Kuhar. Also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Florence (Cherry) Kuhar; siblings, Helen (Kuhar) Lanik, Charles Kuhar, and George Kuhar; grandchildren, Karen (Mackoff) Newcomer, James Brenner, infant John Robert Kuhar; granddaughter-in-law, Alexandra “Sasha” Brown; and son-in-law, Lee Fogle. Survived by his children, Bonnie Kay (Lee) Fogle; John (Maren) Kuhar; Bob (Karen) Kuhar; and Louise (Ken) Smith; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a veteran of WWII, a retired coal miner and truck driver. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nanty Glo and a former member of the Polish Club. John enjoyed woodworking, was an avid outdoorsman and liked to fish and feed the deer and birds. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family, hanging out with the guys in his Shed, trying his luck with the daily lottery, and playing the accordion. In his later years, he enjoyed singing his favorite Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash songs at Karaoke and became known as the “Karaoke King.” John was young at heart and always quick with a joke. He will be deeply missed and always loved. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. Committal, St. Marys Cemetery, Nanty Glo. Military rite by Nanty Glo, Vintondale and Twin Rocks Veterans Ritual Team. Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com
