Obituary of Courtney Yvonne Shoemaker

SHOEMAKER – Courtney Yvonne, 45, of Jackson Township, passed away January 27, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family, after her courageous three year battle with cancer.  Born May 31, 1976 in Johnstown, the daughter of Gerald and Sherry (Fye) Mardis, of Nanty Glo.  Preceded in death by maternal grandparents; Richard and Yvonne Fye, paternal grandparents; Jack and Anne Mardis, uncle Richard Fye, aunt Deanna Hobba, and father in law Alvin Shoemaker.  Survived by her husband Michael Shoemaker to whom she was married for 20 years, children Colton, Rylan and step-son Michael “Mikey.” As well as her brother Benjamin (Mandy) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A kind and loving person, Courtney enjoyed her many friends, spending time with her family and above all else, her boys. She also enjoyed providing foster care for animals.   Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a trust at PennCrest bank established for her boys. Arrangements are in care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.
