Obituary of Michele Lynn James
JAMES - Michele Lynn (Jerome), 64, of Florida, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away April 11, 2022 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Jerome and mother, Faye Jerome (Sybert) of Nanty Glo, PA and sister, Tina Jerome of Concord, NH. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dr. Robert James of Fleming Island, FL. Son, Michael James and daughter-in-law Jennifer James of Cedar Grove, NJ. Her beloved granddaughters, Josie, Aubrey, and Eve James. As well as nieces Caitlin Ray of Columbia, SC, Rylie Ray of Pittsburgh, PA and Sara Reichhold (James) of Somerset, PA and nephew, Jack Ray of Vinco, PA. She was a graduate of Blacklick Valley High School and earned a BS in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She also received a Medical Technology degree from Conemaugh Hospital. She worked in hospitals in Johnstown, PA, Phillipsburg, PA, Gainesville, FL and Jacksonville, FL. She later earned a BA in Finance at the University of North Florida. She volunteered extensively throughout her life, including at St. Johns Country Day School, St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Cummer Museum of Art. She also served on a committee charged with auditing multiple not-for-profit groups in the northeast Florida area. She also was an avid crafter. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. For many years she was a craft judge at the Clay County (Florida) Fair. More recently she engaged in multiple projects with the Cricut machine. She also studied painting and drawing at Florida Community College in Jacksonville, FL. She enjoyed traveling with her favorite places being Italy, New York City and, of course, Cedar Grove, NJ to visit her granddaughters. She will be remembered by all as someone who loved life and helping others. She loved learning and was constantly reading. Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday April 25 at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, Rev. Fr. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or your favorite charity.
