I met Mr. Tsikalas on his 93rd birthday. He visited me at the Courthouse so I could present him with his signature stamp. It was an honor to meet a fellow Prothonotary and listen to his stories about the good old days. It was a privilege and an honor to meet him and thank him for his service to his Country, his County, and his Town.

What a legend of a man. From WWII combat veteran, Ebensburg Highway Diner, Mayor of Ebensburg, Cambria County Prothonatary, Coach, Mentor, Hero and genuine great person whom treated everyone he met with dignity and the utmost respect. Genuine love of the Lord and people. He touched the heart of everyone he met, his great character, morales ,values and smile shown through every time you looked into his smiling eyes and loving heart. A person could not ask for a better grandfather, friend and role model. Se Agopo Para Poly Papou! O Theos na evlogi tin psychi sou! As einai i mnimi sou!
Love, Mike and Dana Tsikalas

Mike was a second father to all of us at The Diner. He knew everything, watched over us, counseled us. He went on to serve the community and the county, and was universally beloved and respected. We are diminished by his passing. Godspeed.

Growing up in Ebensburg in the '50s and '60s, it was virtually impossible not to know the Tsikalas family, led so well by Mike. I can't say I ever got to know him well, but I had ample opportunity to watch him at the Diner and in his interactions with his children. My memory is this: he was clear, gentle, and supportive. His ascendance to the mayor's office was natural. Mike was the best of Ebensburg, and that is a beautiful thing. My condolences to all the family.
