SMITH – John J. “Smitty”, 82, of Colver, passed away August 28, 2022 at HAIDA Manor, Hastings. Born April 9, 1940 in Nanty Glo, son of the late Stephen and Anna (Buschko) Smith. Preceded in death by wife, Theresa Smith; sisters, Mary Ann Smith, Kathleen Demchak and Joan Voyda. Survived by children, Dr. Jonathan Smith; Timothy (Mary Beth) Smith; Kevin Smith; and Mary Smith Nipps. Grandchildren, Erica (Ronald) Chandler; Timothy (Courtney) Smith; Hannah (Andrew) Schmidt; Briann and Bryant Nipps. Great Grandchildren, Emmaline Smith; and future child of Hannah and Andy Schmidt, on the way! Also survived by brother, Michael (Helen) Smith; sisters, Veronica Dick and Carole (Rowland H.) Tibbott; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathy McCloskey. He will also be missed by his special pets, Jill and Gretyl. Smitty retired after many years as a parts manager with the former Castelli’s and Bob Simmers Ford dealerships, also retiring as custodial maintenance worker with Central Cambria School District. For many years, he also worked as a painter, handyman, gardener and was a “jack of all trades.” John enjoyed singing for many years in various Catholic Church choirs, including Holy Family in Colver, St. Mary’s in Nanty Glo and Prince of Peace in Northern Cambria… and made many friends along the way. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev.
