Obituary of Robert T. Flora

FLORA – Robert T., “B”, 76, of Ebensburg, passed away March 23, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  Born November 25, 1946 in Johnstown, son of the late Dr. William K. Flora and Margaret B. (Mayes) Flora.  Preceded in death by parents, grandparents, and beloved brother William K. “Bill” Flora Jr., of Johnstown.  Survived by a kind, loving partner of 25 years, Bobbi Shaffer, of Ebensburg.  Bob graduated from Johnstown High School in 1964.  He received an Associates Degree from CCBC/Dyke College, Cleveland; a Bachelor of Science degree from California University of PA and a M.A. degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania; in addition to post graduate work in the field of Psychology from Indiana University and the University of Pittsburgh.  Bob served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge.  Over the years, Bob had been employed for Bethlehem Steel’s Gautier Plant and the Car Shops, he had taught high school at the Somerset Jr-Sr. High School and retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania after serving as a staff psychologist for almost 30 years.  For many years, Bob served as a Crisis Prevention Instructor and also chaired the Behavioral Management Committee at the Ebensburg Center State School.  He enjoyed spending time and laughing with friends, travels to the Caribbean Islands, travels to Fort Lauderdale, golf, tennis, fishing, working out at the gym, gardening and philately.  Bob was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg where a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30^th,  Fr. Brian Warchola, celebrant. A time of gathering will be held in the church Narthex from 10:00 a.m., until the time of services.  Private committal at Grandview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be made to the Kindred Journey Haiti Fund, 500 N.
