Obituary of Sharon Hessler-Kysar
HESSLER-KYSAR - Sharon, 68, of Westmont, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center. She made her final journey home to be with our Lord and to be reunited with her beloved son, Brian Nicholas and her other family members. Sharon was born September 7, 1954 and raised on Loraine Road in Jackson Twp. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ann (Richardson) Hessler. Preceded in death by her son, Brian Nicholas; and brothers, Daryl James (Mel Guy); and Walter Joseph (Denise Emmel). Survived by her former spouse, (Lt. Col., Retired) Kent Kysar; her loving children, Justine (Gib) Coyle; and Brett (Jasmine) Kysar; and her three grandsons, Nicholas, Henry and Noah Coyle. She is also survived by her sister, Deborah (Col. Retired John) Ondrejko; brother, David (Debi) Hessler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was a 1972 graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, and being from a small coal mining town left her with the desire for adventure. She started her working career at Law’s Jewelry in Johnstown right after graduation, but Sharon was always looking for more and pioneered her way to become one of the first women to work at Bethlehem Steel Mills, where she worked her way up until taking on the plants heaviest responsibilities as the crane director. After her time at the steel mill, she served in the US Air Force for five years, allowing her the opportunity to go overseas to Germany. There she met her former husband, traveled to new and exciting places, and started a family. Upon returning to the States, she decided to focus on her family and doted on her children for many years. In the early 2000’s she decided real estate was that next challenge for her to conquer, and she spent the later years working for Long and Foster Realty in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. Sharon was always a cut above the rest and a shining spirit for others. She never let anyone or anything deter or break her spirit and continually made things happen for herself. Sharon’s beauty, laughter, and stories will forever stay with us. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, officiating.
